Guy’s Girl can get off the mark at Tramore

On the back of a career-best effort at Ballinrobe a fortnight ago, the Willie McCreery-trained Guy’s Girl is fancied to get off the mark in the Tramoreraces.ie Handicap at the Waterford venue on Tuesday night.
The Ghaiyyath filly was never placed better than fifth in eight career runs before finishing third at Ballinrobe last time out.
While no match for impressive winner Daboya on that occasion, Guy’s Girl ran a fine race in defeat, only surrendering second spot to Lagoon Nebula in the final furlong.
The slight drop on trip should suit and she ought to be in the mix off a mark a 1lb lower than that she ran off in Ballinrobe.
The aforementioned Daboya runs an hour earlier, in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Handicap. She looks sure to run well again but a 7lb hike for her Ballinrobe win might leave her vulnerable to Marmeladova.
Successful at Ballinrobe first time out this season, the Ken Condon-trained five-year-old then finished last of four at Gowran Park before staying on to take third on her handicap debut back at the Mayo venue.
That was over an extended nine furlongs but Marmeladova shaped like a mare who might benefit from a step up in trip.
She gets that today, running over a mile and a half for the first time, and if that trip is not beyond her, she could prove tough to beat.

Successful over hurdles at Naas in January, the Philip Dempsey-trained six-year-old then won on the Flat at Gowran Park in April.
Back over flights, Matt Connor finished down the field in a handicap hurdle at the Punchestown festival last time out but he has been given time to recover from that run and his previous form makes him a leading contender back on the level.
