Sunday at Cork racecourse provided the perfect afternoon for racing, even if the quick conditions were enough to prevent some of the equine stars from taking their chances. The venue is still one of the best in the country for Flat racing, and it didn’t fail to deliver on this seven-race programme.

The first of the twin features on the card was the listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cork Stakes and the Joseph O’Brien-trained Lady With The Lamp produced a terrific performance to get her season off to the perfect start. A three-year-old filly taking on a field which included older geldings, and an older filly which had been beaten just half a length in a French Guineas, this was a positive step forward on her juvenile campaign which had also included a listed race success.
