Cap Saint Martin lands Curragh spoils

The famous Sangster colours, carried to many famous successes at the Curragh over the decades, were back in the winner’s enclosure after Cap Saint Martin, trained by Joseph O’Brien for Sam Sangster and Lee Warren, justified 5-6 favouritism in Thursday’s opener, the first division of the one-mile Irish EBF Median Sires Series 2-Y-0 Maiden.

Having tracked front-runner Iron Fist throughout, the Persian King colt mastered that rival before the furlong-pole before staying on to win by three-quarters of a length.
