North Africa can get off the mark for in-form O'Brien

FAMILIAR STORY: Aidan O’Brien looks set to dominate proceedings at Navan. Picture: Morgan Treacy/Inpho

Saturday’s programme in Navan is quite weak by the standards of the track but Aidan O’Brien, whose team is in great form, has strong claims of putting another treble on his card. The nap goes to his North Africa, who contests the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies’ & Mares’ Maiden.

Unraced at two, the three-year-old daughter of Galileo was a well beaten fifth on debut and was probably a shade below that when seventh of eight on her second start. Given a break of almost three months after that disappointment, she returned in a fillies’ maiden last month in Cork and showed improved form to finish runner-up to promising debutant Romzina.
