Step up in trip should suit Major Barry at Killarney
PROGRESSIVE TYPE: Victorious at Cork on his most recent start, Major Barry can follow up at Killarney on Thursday.Â
Killarney’s three-day August meeting gets underway with a National Hunt programme and the lightly-raced Major Barry can take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Hurdle to follow up his recent success.
Last time out, in Cork, John and Thomas Kiely’s runner won despite the 17-furlong trip rather than because of it, and he has long looked likely to excel when sent over a staying trip, which he does on Thursday. He has run, and won, over two and a half miles and as he raced clear in the closing stages of that race, in Roscommon, he looked in need of further.
