The Group 3 Darley Irish EBF Stanerra Stakes tops the bill on Wednesday’s card in Fairyhouse, and the Joseph O’Brien-trained Dancing Tango can land the valuable prize. Last season, she made impressive progress from winning a handicap here off 82 to winning the Listed Bluebell Stakes at Naas on her last outing of the season.
She was a little below her best on her return but stepped up considerably when just coming off second best to Harbour Wind in a Listed race at Limerick on her most recent outing. Receiving only the fillies’ allowance and taking on a 109-rated colt that day, she moved up strongly to mount a challenge, put her nose in front for a few strides, but went down by a short head. The pair finished a long way clear of third-placed Serious Challenge and the effort suggested there could still be more to come from the five-year-old.
