The Oaks-winning Ezeliya team of Dermot Weld and Chris Hayes struck with another Aga Khan-owned filly when last year’s Irish 1,000 Guineas fourth Tarawa justified 2-1 favouritism in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms EBF Glencairn Stakes at Leopardstown.

With no early pace, Hayes sent the Shamardal filly to the front after three furlongs, dictated the tempo and, when he asked her to stretch soon after the two-furlong pole, she was soon in command and came home two and a quarter lengths clear of British raider Cairo, runner-up in last year’s Irish 2,000 Guineas and having his first run for Alice Haynes.
