It’s hard to believe it now but there was a time, not all that long ago, when Willie Mullins feared the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup was one prize destined to forever elude him.

Such fears were understandable. After all, when Djakadam chased home Don Cossack in 2016, it was the sixth time Mullins had saddled the runner-up in racing’s blue riband.
