Seventeen-year-old rider Danny Gilligan’s star has been on the rise ever since he caught the attention of trainer Gordon Elliott, and the pair enjoyed their biggest success together when Ash Tree Meadow made virtually every yard of the running in the Tote Galway Plate.

For a horse which did it all from the front and had a clear sight of the fences, it ought to have been quite straightforward, but a loose horse made many demands of young Gilligan, and he rose to the challenge.
