Redcar forced to inspect

This evening’s meeting at Redcar is subject to an inspection at 12 noon after heavy overnight rain and the threat of more to come.

The going is currently good to soft, soft in places but 28 millimetres of rain has already fallen with the forecast suggesting a good deal more is on the way.

Acting clerk of the course John Sanderson said: “We’ll need to look at 12 because we’ve had 28mm overnight and it’s still falling now.

“I live near York and when I left we’d had nowhere near the amount which has fallen at Redcar.”
