Sam Waley-Cohen has escaped injury after a nasty-looking fall at Ascot yesterday.

The amateur was riding Frisco Depot for Charlie Longsdon in the United House Gold Cup and the pair were still going well when they fell three out.

Waley-Cohen was trampled on but managed to walk away.

“I’m fine, it wasn’t the nicest experience but there is no lasting damage thankfully,” said Waley-Cohen.

The jockey is due to team up with Long Run, his 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, in the Betfair Chase at Haydock later this month and he added: “Long Run seems really well, he’s building up towards Haydock nicely.

“There might not be a Kauto Star this year, but I’m sure something else will come along.”
