Second check needed at Folkestone

This afternoon’s Flat meeting at Folkestone must now pass a precautionary inspection at 10am.

Although the track was raceable following an early-morning check, officials at the Kent circuit need to look again as more rain is forecast.

Clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross said: “There is an area that concerns me in the dip between five (furlongs) and six that wouldn’t want too much more rain.

“The remainder of the track will take more rain, but there are more showers forecast – some potentially heavy ones.

“This is why we must continue to monitor the situation.”
