Ruby Walsh made a winning comeback from injury with a narrow success on Rattan at Listowel.

Walsh, who fractured an ankle in a fall in the Galway Hurdle last month, had to work hard to get the Willie Mullins-trained hot-pot in front in the Kerrymaid Hurdle.

Miley Shah looked like making all the running but he was far from fluent at the last two flights.

Rattan (4-9 favourite) met the last hurdle running and got the momentum needed for him to prevail by a head in a tight finish.

Walsh said: "I thought 4-9 shots were supposed to be easier than that!''

Mullins added: “It is nice to have Ruby back and in good form.

“He hated the ground, it is really tacky. He’ll mix it between the flat and hurdling and he could jump a fence.

“It would be nice to get some summer ground.”
