Frozen Lingfield abandoned

This afternoon’s meeting at Lingfield has been abandoned due to a frozen track.

Officials at the Surrey venue were left with no choice but to call off the jumps fixture following two morning inspections.

Overnight temperatures dropped to minus 5C, and the situation had shown little improvement during the morning.

Clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross said: “We’ve not seen enough this morning to suggest the track will be raceable this afternoon.

“With only two hours to go before racing, we do not believe it was worth prolonging the agony.”
