Jockey Williams nears comeback after horror fall
Christian Williams is not far away from making a return to race riding after suffering a horrendous fall more than a year ago.
Williams, who returned from a long absence due to a serious shoulder injury in 2007, this time needed to recover from two broken arms after coming off Beshabar at Cheltenham in November 2010.
The Welshman has been working hard at his home in Bridgend, and has already returned to the saddle on the gallops.
"I'm getting there slowly," he said. "I might be back before Christmas, otherwise it will be before the middle of January.
"It's just fitness now, improving my bleep-test results and that sort of thing."
Williams, who will be a guest on the Channel 4 Racing Morning Line this weekend, hopes he can count on the support of many of his previous employers.
He continued: "I've been off for over 12 months before and I know it's going to be tough to pick up nice rides, but I'll give it a go anyway.
"I've done plenty of riding out for people like Alan King, Tim Vaughan and Bernard Llewellyn and the last thing I have to do is go and see Dr (Michael) Turner (British Horseracing Authority medical advisor) in the next couple of weeks."
