Teaforthree in Welsh National frame

Teaforthree is a possible for the Coral Welsh National following his encouraging run in a staying novice chase at Cheltenham.

Trainer Rebecca Curtis believes the seven-year-old’s future is in long-distance chases on soft ground and the marathon handicap chase at Chepstow on December 27 could be an ideal target, as long as the handicapper is not harsh on him.

Although he has been beaten in both his races over fences to date, he was an excellent second to Join Together with Restless Harry third on Saturday.

“I don’t think you’ll see the best of him until he gets proper long-distance races,” said the Newport handler.

“Things likes the Welsh National will suit him, but you just worry what sort of mark he will get in handicaps when he’s running against good novice company.

“I think we will give him an entry and see what the handicapper does with him. If we can find soft ground for him, that will suit.”
