Twirl dazzles for O'Brien
Twirl continued Aidan O'Brien's excellent weekend with a bloodless victory in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Leopardstown.
The master of Ballydoyle enjoyed a famous double at the Breeders' Cup at Churchill Downs on Saturday night, and was back among the winners in his homeland.
Sent off the 10-11 favourite following a highly encouraging debut third, Twirl had her rivals in trouble a long way from home and Seamie Heffernan kept the filly up to her work in the straight to score by six and a half lengths from Maude Adams.
"She had a lovely run last week and I thought she was a bit unlucky," said Heffernan
"I asked her to jump out fast today as I wanted to save ground (drawn on the outside).
"Galileo's (offspring) would run through fire for you."
Paddy Power installed Twirl at 20-1 for the 1000 Guineas.
