Article run provokes inquiry
An inquiry into the running and riding of The Real Article at Tipperary last Sunday will be held on Monday morning.
The Irish Turf Club referrals committee are to analyse the performance of the Edward O’Grady-trained six-year-old, who was a short-head second behind Captain Cee Bee in the Kevin McManus Bookmaker Grimes Hurdle.
Victory for The Real Article would have seen the gelding forced to carry a penalty for next Thursday’s Guinness Galway Hurdle.
The review has been called at the behest of Denis Egan, chief executive of the Irish Turf Club.
O’Grady and jockey Paddy Mangan have been informed, with the hearing due to commence at 10.30am.
