Memory given one more chance
Richard Hannon’s Memory will be given one more chance to prove she retains the enthusiasm for racing before she is sent to the sales.
A smart juvenile, she won the Albany at Royal Ascot and the Cherry Hinton at Newmarket and she went into the winter as one of the favourites for the 1000 Guineas.
However, the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing-owned filly was left in the stalls in the Classic, basically refusing to race, and despite running with promise in the Coronation Stakes she blotted her copybook once more in the Falmouth Stakes.
“There really is very little to say other than that Memory has a really bad attitude once in the stalls, but is fine when racing or when working at home,” said a statement on her owner’s website.
“We will probably give her one more opportunity as there is little to lose and yet so much to gain if she were to win a race this year.
“Obviously, if she refuses to make an exit again then we will draw stumps and send her back to Highclere Stud in order for her to be prepared for the December sales.”
