Dance team target Goodwood glory
Ed Vaughan was left rueing his luck after Dance And Dance was narrowly denied in the Royal Hunt Cup last week.
The five-year-old was denied a clear run at a crucial stage in the Royal Ascot heat but flew home to be beaten just half a length by Julienas.
The Royal Applause gelding will now be given a short break before a crack at the valuable totesport Mile at Glorious Goodwood.
āHe was a bit unlucky. He met trouble in running and would have gone very close ā I think he would have taken all the beating if he had got a straight run,ā said Vaughan.
āHeās had five runs already this season so Iāll give him a bit of a break before I bring him back for the Golden Mile (totesport Mile) at Goodwood.
āIām not tempted to run him in a Group race yet. I think he needs a break, I wouldnāt run him for at least a month so I think weāll go straight there. You canāt go to the well too many times.
āI think itās time for a break, I prepped him pretty hard for Ascot. It nearly came off but it didnāt.
āHe owes us nothing and he is a horse who potentially could be going to Dubai next year.
āIād be very surprised if he stayed 10 furlongs. Itās getting more difficult now with his handicap mark but something like the Cambridgeshire, over a mile and one, could be a possible, but you need a 10-furlong horse for that.ā
