Red Cadeaux has Newton Cup aim

Red Cadeaux is to seek another decent pot in the £85,000 Old Newton Cup following his convincing success at Hamilton.

Trainer Ed Dunlop has his eyes on the big handicap at Haydock on July 2 after the five-year-old took Friday’s £45,000 William Hill Braveheart Handicap for his first win in 13 months.

“Red Cadeaux ticked all the right boxes for the Braveheart – we finally had our ground and just needed a good gallop and, thankfully, they did not hang about, so his stamina came into play,” the Newmarket trainer told www.edunlop.com.

“He does not necessarily need soft ground, just no faster than good, and it was definitely too firm for him when he ran in last week’s Chester Cup.”
