Catterick blown off course

Today’s meeting at Catterick has been abandoned due to high winds.

Clerk of the course Fiona Needham called an 11am inspection to determine prospects for the meeting and with conditions showing no sign of improvement, had no option but to draw stumps.

“We’ve had to call the meeting off I’m afraid. The wind wasn’t forecast to arrive this early but now that it’s here it’s forecast to stay,” said Needham.

“We’re getting gusts of 50mph plus and we can’t keep the wings or the rails up or anything.

“The ground is fine if you could stay on it!”
