Kelso called off

Kelso’s replacement fixture for tomorrow has been abandoned due to frost.

Clerk of the course Anthea Morshead had called an inspection for 12 noon but decided not to postpone the inevitable as it became clear conditions were not going to improve.

“Unfortunately we had no option but to cancel,” she said.

“It is minus 2C as we speak and it was minus 6C overnight which was colder than the worst forecast we had been given.

“It is due to be minus 3C overnight and up to 1C tomorrow so it’s disappointing but we’ve no choice.

“The fresh ground is OK but anywhere off the racing line is frozen solid. As this was an extra meeting it is doubly frustrating.

“We’ve lost four meetings now this season and it looks like only today and tomorrow will be the days we are unraceable.”
