Newbury gets green light

Today’s meeting at Newbury goes ahead after course officials made an early decision to give the card the green light.

A colder than anticipated night prompted clerk of the course Richard Osgood to call an initial inspection for 10am, but he then decided to announce a further check at 11.30am.

But with temperatures rising all the time, he was able to make an earlier decision.

“We’ve decided racing goes ahead and we’ve been able to make a decision ahead of time,” said Osgood.

“It’s really nice and warm now. We may take a fence out down the back straight, but we don’t have to decide until after the first race, so we’ll see.”
