Newbury check again

This afternoon’s meeting at Newbury will have to pass a further inspection at 11.30am if it is to go ahead.

Temperatures dropped lower than expected overnight, prompting clerk of the course Richard Osgood to call an initial check for 10am.

But although conditions are improving, he feels the course still needs time to warm up.

“We’re going to have another look at 11.30am,” said Osgood.

“Things are improving and the hurdle course is almost OK, but there are one or two areas of concern on the chase course.”
