Leicester's meeting 'requires a miracle'

Leicester’s meeting on Tuesday is subject to a St Stephen's Day inspection at 8.30am.

The track is currently covered by snow and frozen underneath, leaving clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson praying for a Christmas miracle.

“It has got to improve a lot from what we have here at the moment. We’ve got four inches of snow on the track and it’s frozen underneath,” said Stevenson.

“We’re due a slight improvement on Friday but severe frosts are coming back then, so we’re hoping for a miracle.

“We might as well have a look on Boxing Day to save messing people around.

“The forecast temperatures are nowhere near what we need.”
