Mullins keeps faith with Fairyhouse

Willie Mullins will let stable stars Mikael D’Haguenet and Hurricane Fly run at Fairyhouse on Wednesday, if the meeting finally gets the go-ahead.

The high-class card, featuring three Grade One events, was originally due to take place on November 28 but has been postponed three times due to snow on the track.

“The plan would be for them all to run if the meeting goes ahead,” said Mullins.

“Whether it’s run this week or next week I’m going to run.

“Some people might say it’s getting a bit close to Christmas but I take the other view in that there is no guarantee Christmas won’t be like this as well.

“Imagine if Fairyhouse was on and we missed it, and the next thing we get to Christmas and that’s all abandoned?

“Then you’re into January before they get a run, so the first meeting that comes up is the first one I’m going to run in.

“All the horses are fine and I’m very happy with them, but we’ll have to see what the weather does as the forecast I’ve seen is for it to stay as it is for the next four to six weeks.

“I think what we need is rain to get rid of the snow as Fairyhouse must be under a foot of it at the moment.”

Hurricane Fly is due to line up in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle, while Mikael D’Haguenet is set to make his first start over fences in Ireland in the Drinmore Novices’ Chase.
