Burton tops Welsh weights
Burton Port has been raised 9lb following his fine effort in the Hennessy, meaning he will carry top weight of 11st 12lb if turning up in the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow on December 27.
Nicky Henderson’s charge stayed on from some way out to lay down a challenge to Diamond Harry but went down by a length and a quarter in only his second defeat over fences. His previous reverse came when he chased home Weapon’s Amnesty in the RSA Chase at the Festival.
Neptune Collonges, third and fourth in two renewals of the Gold Cup, is next in the list on 11st 10lb after his early exit in the Hennessy.
Madison Du Berlais (11st 3lb), Silver By Nature (11st 2lb) and last year’s winner Dream Alliance (10st 11lb) are also towards the head of the weights.
The likes of Notre Pere (10st 9lb) and Pandorama (10st 8lb), another early Hennessy casualty, represent Irish interests.
Watamu Bay (10st 7lb), Carole’s Legacy (10st 1lb) and Festival winner Poker De Sivola (9st 12lb) are sure to have their followers off low weights.
