Pontefract gets go-ahead

This afternoon’s meeting at Pontefract goes ahead after the track passed a 6.30am inspection.

Heavy rain had caused some concern at the venue on Sunday but officials are perfectly satisfied with conditions ahead of the seven-race card.

Assistant clerk of the course Richard Hammill said: “We’ve passed the 6.30am inspection and racing goes ahead.

“We had 17 millimetres of rain in total yesterday but it had cleared away by 2.30pm.

“There are absolutely no problems and the ground remains soft, good to soft in places.”
