Power Abbaye bid in doubt

Sole Power is “very doubtful” to run in the Qatar Prix de l’Abbaye at Longchamp on Sunday.

The Eddie Lynam-trained three-year-old has had the French Group One on his agenda since causing a 100-1 upset in the Nunthorpe at York.

But with conditions in France likely to be most exacting due to heavy rain, Lynam’s hand may be forced into removing him from the final line-up.

“He’s on his way over on Longchamp (on Thursday morning) but he has to be a doubtful runner,” said the County Meath handler.

“The ground is likely to be very soft, and that would be no good.

“We will see what the ground is like on Friday morning and if it’s not improved he will probably be taken out.”
