Pulse chasing National honours

Finger Onthe Pulse could go in search of more big-race glory in next month’s Kerry National following his thrilling success in the Galway Plate.

Tom Taaffe’s nine-year-old had been on a near-two-year losing streak but a typically power-packed Tony McCoy ride saw him home in the Ballybrit feature.

“He’s come out of the race in good shape and we were delighted with him,” said Taaffe.

“He’d been out of form for a while but if you’re going to come back you might as well come back with a bang, and that’s what he did.

“Galway was the plan for him, but going forward we might have a look at the Kerry National at Listowel on September 15.

“He’s shown he’s right back up there to the form he was in when he won the Jewson at Cheltenham a couple of years ago.

“He seems to have found the sat-nav again.”
