Night's a Platinum hit for Wachman

Hen Night gave trainer David Wachman and jockey Wayne Lordan back-to-back victories in the Platinum Stakes at Cork.

Successful with Latin Love 12 months ago, the duo struck with the Gigginstown Stud-owned filly.

Absent since finishing third to the subsequent Irish 1000 Guineas winner Bethrah at Leopardstown 12 weeks ago, the 10-1 shot came with a rattling run to storm past Famous a furlong out.

She stayed on strongly to win by two and a half lengths from Maybe Grace, who grabbed the runner-up spot from long-time leader Famous close home.

Disappointment of the race was the Mark Johnston-trained evens favourite St Moritz, who was had every chance but weakened into fifth place.

Wachman said: “She had a break since the spring, but she is progressive and seems to go on any ground.

“I’ll have to discuss it with the owners, but I wouldn’t mind taking her to America and I have a couple of targets in mind out there.

“I’d be hoping to have a busy autumn with my team after having a quite enough time.”
