Fortune delays return until Saturday week
Jimmy Fortune is to delay his return from injury until Saturday week due to a riding ban.
The Flat jockey has been sidelined since suffering an ankle injury in a fall at Newbury on Tuesday night.
Although nothing is broken, the ankle is swollen and Fortune thought it best to give it a few days to mend.
As he is suspended for four days next week, from Tuesday to Friday, Fortune will not make his comeback until next weekend.
"He's just got soft tissue damage that's all, but his ankle has swollen up, so he decided to take the weekend off," said his agent Tony Hind.
"He had the ankle X-rayed and there are no breakages. Because it's swollen he thought he'd give it four days rest.
"He was going to come back on Tuesday, but he's banned until Friday so he won't be back until next Saturday."
Fortune was kicked when taking a tumble from First Post just over two furlongs out in a mile handicap at the Berkshire track.
His mount, which had been a chance ride, was brought down by Volatilis, who suffered a fatal injury.
