August return for Goldikova
Freddie Head is keen not to look too far ahead after Goldikova recorded a remarkable ninth Group One victory at Royal Ascot last week.
The five-year-old wonder-mare proved a neck too strong for Paco Boy in a vintage renewal of the Queen Anne Stakes.
Goldikova is now set to bid for the same Deauville double she completed last year, but a decision on whether she will attempt to win the Breeders’ Cup Mile in America for an unprecedented third time is still some way off.
“She’s very well and arrived home in very good form,” said Head.
“It was a great day and a great winner for me and I would say it was among the best of her performances.
“She was in front a long way out and just got a bit tired in the end, but we were very happy with her.
“The plan now would be the Prix Rothschild at Deauville on August 1 and then hopefully she will go back for the Prix Jacques le Marois on the 15th.
“We will see after that and we just want to take it race by race.
“Of course we would love to go back to America, but it is too early to say at the moment.
“If you go and make plans you never know how they’ll turn out.
“I’m delighted with her and she’s a fantastic horse.”
