Deegen hoping for wet spell

Paul Deegan is praying for rain ahead of Lady Springbank's bid for glory in the Irish 1000 Guineas at the Curragh on Sunday.

Deegan, who trains not far from the County Kildare track, reports his filly to be in fine form following her victory in the Leopardstown 1000 Guineas Trial in March.

"She's in very good form. We're very happy with her, everything has gone to plan," he said.

"We are looking forward to it and praying for a bit of rain. They are giving showers and a warm week.

"She's come on for that race at Leopardstown. She's fit and very healthy and seems very well at home.

"I think she has improved for her first run back this year.

"If we get a bit of nice ground she'd go there with a live each-way chance."
