Irish jockey Emmet Mullins could miss the Cheltenham Festival after suffering a suspected fractured rib at Naas on Wednesday.

The highly-rated youngster sustained the injury when falling from Mystic Mayfly in a two-mile maiden hurdle.

Mullins was taken to Naas Hospital, where X-rays revealed the extent of the damage caused by the fall.

The jockey said: "The doctors say I have a suspected fracture, but I'm waiting to get a second opinion and hopefully I'll get that on Friday.

"I really don't want to rule out Cheltenham yet as I'm in for a couple of rides, including Quiscover Fontaine in the Arkle, so we'll see what happens."
