Racing at Catterick today goes ahead after passing a second inspection.

Officials had to look again at 9.30am as an initial precautionary inspection at 8am found the track to be unraceable following a sharp overnight frost.

However, the temperature rose significantly in the interim erasing any fears the meeting might be in jeopardy.

“We’re fine. Temperatures have risen rapidly and we’re on about plus 5C now so we’re fine,” said clerk of the course Fiona Needham.

The going is described as good, good to firm in places.
