Officials at the Berkshire venue were forced to assess conditions after overnight temperatures dipped to minus 4.5C.

But any lingering frost soon dissipated throughout the morning, which allowed clerk of the course Richard Osgood to give the meeting the thumbs-up.

He said: “Temperatures have risen and racing goes ahead.”
