Green light for Leicester

This afternoon’s meeting at Leicester goes ahead as scheduled after passing a third inspection at 11.30am.

Temperatures dipped to minus 9C overnight and after an initial check at 8am, clerk of the course Jimmy Stevenson decided to look again at 10am.

Although temperatures were slowly rising, Stevenson was keen to let conditions improve further and was delighted to give the meeting the green light.

Stevenson said: “Things have improved sufficiently and I was always confident that would be the case.

“It was just a matter of being patient and thankfully we’re fine to race.”
