Master Medic is likely to miss a potential return to the course in this Saturday’s Betfair Ascot Chase.

One of two entries for Robert and Sally Alner, along with Miss Mitch, the gelding beat Fix The Rib at the Berkshire course in October before suffering a reversal to the same horse the following month.

He was last seen being pulled-up in the King George.

Sally Alner said: “I don’t think Master Medic will go because the ground is too soft.

“Miss Mitch is also entered at Wincanton (in the Country Gentlemen’s Association Chase) but we haven’t made any plans yet.”

Another Alner entry in the Listed event at Wincanton is Shillingstone, who has won his two starts this season at Kempton and Newbury.

Mrs Alner added: “He might well run at Sandown on Friday.”
