This afternoon's meeting at Kempton goes ahead after the track passed an inspection.

Clerk of the course Barney Clifford had planned to walk the track at 8am but he brought that check forward.

He said: "I left it late because of the forecast really but everything is fine here and racing goes ahead.

"We got to just below zero at around midnight last night but then we had one millimetre of precipitation and that just raised temperatures a little.

"The temperature is 2C at the moment and we're forecast a maximum of 4C today."
