Nubar Boy cashed in first time out for Tom Dascombe when coming with a forceful challenge in the Try Betdaq For An Exchange Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Lingfield today.

The Compton Place colt had failed in four Irish starts when in the care of Tommy Stack, but a step up to seven furlongs and a move to Manchester United striker Michael Owen's yard in Cheshire squeezed out the necessary improvement.

Richard Kingscote brought the 7-4 chance with a late dash around the outside of the field and he led inside the final 100 yards to deny Neduardo by a length and a quarter.

Dascombe's representative Marie Rowe said: "We bought him at the Newmarket sales in November and Tom was quite hopeful.

"I thought he quickened well and Richard said he will stay further in time."

Wicked Daze made short work of obliging as the 1-4 favourite in the two-mile Marriott Play & Stay Claiming Stakes.

The seven-year-old successfully made all the running over a shorter trip at Kempton last time out and followed up in a similar manner for the in-form Kevin Ryan.

Jamie Spencer always had his mount in the front rank and he barely moved a muscle as Wicked Daze pulled clear in the snowy conditions to cross the line four lengths clear.
