Snow claims Naas fixture

The jumps meeting scheduled for Naas on Sunday has been cancelled.

Officials held an inspection at 10am, after which the course was found to be unfit for racing.

Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: “There is still a covering of snow on the track and it is freezing over.”

Meanehile, officials at Wetherby have announced an 8.30am inspection on Sunday ahead of the card scheduled for Monday.

Frost remains a severe problem, with the West Yorkshire track frozen in places.

Clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson said: “We wouldn’t race today and if the forecast is correct we are going to struggle – we need some positive temperatures just to shift what we have got.”
