Ayr abandoned
Fears the meeting at Ayr tomorrow may fall victim to the weather have been realised following a check of the course this afternoon.
The Scottish venue has been hit by freezing temperatures over the last 24 hours and conditions were thought unlikely to improve when clerk of the course Hazel Peplinski initially called a 7am inspection for Monday.
Course spokesman Iain Ferguson explained: “The forecast has deteriorated and it is still frozen, so unfortunately there is no prospect of racing.
“It is a pity as it has all come in so quickly and we had a good card, I think a lot of people were looking forward to seeing Howard Johnson’s horse (Quwetwo) in the beginners’ chase.”
