Nick Williams is likely to let L’Aventure line up in the Coral Welsh National for the fifth time following her success at Kelso yesterday.

The 10-year-old won the prestigious Chepstow prize in 2005 when trained by Paul Nicholls and her victory in Sunday’s Scottish Borders National was her first triumph since.

“She travelled well, but I can’t say she travelled and she jumped as it was a bit scary five out,” said Williams.

“It was nice to seeing her going sweetly for a change as she has been quite sulky in the past.

“The owner is quite keen to go to the Welsh National so she probably will, but I am quite keen to be nicely in the handicap.

“I don’t think I’ve ever won a race from out of the handicap, so we’ll see.”
