Apprentice jockey Ronan Whelan savoured a fairytale on the third day of the Listowel Harvest Festival as he recorded only his second ever win in the showpiece Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier Nursery.

He cut out all the running on Puncher Clynch and piloted the Jim Bolger-trained juvenile with a confidence that belied his young age.
