Irish Heartbeat on top at the Curragh

There could not have been a much more appropriate result on a day at the Curragh in honour of Vincent O'Brien than a winner for the late trainer's grandson, David Myerscough.

There could not have been a much more appropriate result on a day at the Curragh in honour of Vincent O'Brien than a winner for the late trainer's grandson, David Myerscough.

Irish Heartbeat is quite lightly raced for a four-year-old sprinter, but showed more than enough fight in the ladbrokes.com Autumn Festival Handicap.

The 7-2 favourite battled back against Sioduil and came up trumps by a short head under Pat Smullen.

"He had been knocking at the door but putting the cheekpieces on today has helped," said Myerscough.

"We may bring him back here in a couple of weeks for the Joe McGrath."
