Rain threatens race fixtures at Killarney and Roscommon

It is not yet clear whether race fixtures scheduled for Killarney and Roscommon in the coming days will be able to go ahead.

Following an inspection today, the steeplechase course at Killarney was found to be unfit for racing ahead of Wednesday’s meeting, and the Colin Counihan Tarmacadam Steeplechase has been abandoned as a result.

The hurdle and bumper course is currently raceable with the ground described as heavy, and a further inspection will be held early on Wednesday.

Roscommon was also unfit for racing as of today, and the situation at the course will be monitored over coming days in advance of two planned fixtures there on Monday and Tuesday of next week.
