Elliott to see out French test
Jockey Andrew Elliott is set to keep the ride on Lesson In Humility in Sunday’s Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville.
The North Yorkshire-based rider will be vying for a first Group One success, but has ridden the four-year-old filly on her last 11 starts.
The partnership was last seen finishing a close-up second to Serious Attitude, who is set to renew rivalry in France, in the Summer Stakes at York.
“He’s a most underrated jockey, and I’m sure he’ll ride her,” said trainer Alan Jarvis, who has assumed control of Karl Burke’s string while the Middleham handler awaits his appeal hearing against a 12-month disqualification.
“He’s a decent lad and works ever so hard – he deserves to a win a big race like this.
“He’s never let down Karl in the past and I’m sure that’ll be the case at the weekend.”
Lesson In Humility has already enjoyed a highly profitable campaign.
A Group Three victory at Leopardstown in June was supplemented by her valiant third in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
And despite having been bested a head by Serious Attitude in July, she was giving 8lb to that rival on the Knavesmire.
Jarvis, who is Burke’s father-in-law, added: “It was a really good effort, with that weight, at York and you’d have to say the (six-and-a-half-furlong) trip should be fine for her in France.
“Since she’s been with me she’s been so genuine – as tough as old boots.
“If things go her way, I’m sure she’d run a very big race.”
