Sirvino streaks to Cup glory
David Barron’s progressive gelding Sirvino secured his fifth successive victory in the 50th John Smith’s Cup at York.
Michael Stoute’s Kingdom Of Fife cut out much of the running in the valuable contest, and had the majority of his rivals at work halfway up the straight.
However, Sirvino (16-1) slowly reeled him in from the two-furlong marker before galloping away to score by two and three-quarters of a length in the hands of Neil Brown.
Albaqaa rattled home from the rear to take third, with Seeking The Buck fourth.
